Job summary

Woodard & Curran is seeking a dynamic SCADA Controls Automation Project Engineer to join our Water Team, supporting projects across the New England Region. You will lead medium to large-scale SCADA implementations for municipal and industrial water and wastewater clients.

You will work with project managers and technical staff to design, develop, and start up automation solutions, mentor junior engineers, travel regionally up to 80%, and help ensure delivery within scope, schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

• Perform site investigations to gather information about the client's SCADA systems and define upgrade paths.
• Coordinate with Practice Leadership and Project Managers to identify new SCADA opportunities.
• Support the Project Manager by writing technical content for proposals and client communications.
• Work independently on small projects or lead teams on larger projects.
• Provide support for client SCADA systems and their operation.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
• Foster and maintain relationships with key clients.
• Coordinate and oversee subcontractors and vendors.
• Develop PLC logic for monitoring and controlling water and wastewater systems.
• Design HMI screens representing equipment in client SCADA software.
• Design screens for operator interfaces (OITs) used in SCADA.
• Create automated reports used in regulatory submissions.
• Guide contractors in wiring termination and equipment checks.
• Prepare documents and presentations with minimal supervision.
• Configure and test SCADA instruments, networking, and PLCs.
• Participate in startup and commissioning of process equipment.
• Train operations staff on SCADA system use and maintenance.
• Perform QA/QC on deliverables and code.
