Job summary

Huron Valley Schools is seeking a Resource Room Teacher to join our district-wide special education team. You will collaborate with general education staff to deliver specially designed instruction, monitor IEP objectives, and communicate effectively with families and students.

You must hold a Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement; additional endorsements are preferred. This full-time, on-site role begins as soon as possible for the 2026-2027 school year, with duties

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement (Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Impairments, or other area).
• Additional Endorsement Preferred: ZG Elementary K-5 All Subjects (K-8 All Subjects in Self-Contained Classroom).
• Must meet the Highly Qualified standard under ESSA or be recommended for a certificate or endorsement by an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Travel between buildings during the school day.
• Provide specially designed instruction to students with an IEP.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students, staff and families.
• Progress monitor all IEP goals and report data quarterly to families.
• Lead and write IEPs and MDRs compliant with federal, state, and district guidance.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, ancillary staff and paraeducators to support students in their least restrictive environment (LRE).
• Attend building and department meetings.
• Be a learner to benefit students and content area.
• Sign Consent to Bill for Medicaid and process Medicaid billing monthly.
• Attend Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training after school as needed.
• Other duties assigned by the special education director or the building principal.
