Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid NC teaching certification or eligible for NC teaching certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Adhere to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.
• Assist school administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
• Create a culture of effectiveness by setting high standards and expectations for all students.
• Plan and implement a program of study in the assigned content area.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using various teaching methods.
• Maintain classroom environment conducive to student engagement and learning objectives.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate them to students.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation.
• Diagnose learning challenges and maintain records for IEPs/504 plans.
• Provide instruction meeting diverse needs including ELL.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Encourage perseverance and exploration of learning opportunities.
• Use diverse instructional strategies and promote critical thinking.
• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments.
• Assign and grade classwork and homework.
• Act as test administrator for state assessments.
• Observe and assess student progress and behavior.
• Meet with parents/guardians to discuss progress and priorities.
• Develop enrichment and remediation programs.
• Attend PLCs and data-driven planning meetings.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
• Ensure safety and proper conduct.
