Job summary

W-Industries in the United States is seeking a Research & Development Engineer to design, prototype, test, and validate LV/MV switchgear and MCC systems with a strong emphasis on manufacturability and reliability.

You will lead concept development, design-for-manufacture, and verification activities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective, safe packaged equipment meeting client and industry standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in R&D or product development in industrial/power distribution.
• Experience with LV/MV switchgear is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or controls/automation engineering.
• EIT/PE, PMP, or related credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development, requirements definition, and feasibility studies for LV/MV switchgear and MCC platforms.
• Design electromechanical assemblies, switchgear line-ups, MCCs, and control solutions.
• Develop test plans, DOE, and verification protocols; analyze results and iterate designs.
• Produce drawings, BOMs, specifications, and risk assessments for LV/MV switchgear and MCCs.
• Apply DFM/DFA and reliability practices to reduce cost, footprint, and weight while ensuring safety.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of electrical and mechanical issues with UL testing.
