Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks an experienced R&D Engineer (R&D Engineer 3) to join the AOT-MDE Engineering Team, focusing on accelerator diagnostics such as beam position monitors, harps, wire scanners, and related components. The role emphasizes design, analysis, prototyping and documentation within a safety-conscious environment.
Candidates should hold a Master’s in Engineering with about six years of related experience (PhD may be preferred) and demonstrate strong
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with diagnostics devices used in accelerator systems.
- Experience reading/measuring mechanical systems and components.
- Familiarity with electrical drive systems and sensors.
- Proven track record in R&D design, analysis, prototyping and documentation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software, specifically SolidWorks.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze accelerator diagnostics systems (beam position monitors, harps, wire scanners, current monitors, etc.).
- Lead maintenance and improvement projects for LANL accelerator diagnostics.
- Support other engineering tasks within AOT-MDE and provide cross-team engineering assistance.
