Job summary

Katy ISD Bear Creek Elementary in Houston, Texas is seeking a 4th grade teacher for Math and Science. The ideal candidate holds a valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements for the subject and level, and ESL certification is required for K-5 RLA or related classrooms.

You will develop engaging lessons, differentiate instruction, collaborate with staff, manage classroom behavior, and communicate with families while supporting district goals and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
• ESL certification required for K-5 RLA or self contained special education or general education classroom assignments
• ESL certification preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies teaching assignments
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Student teaching or approved internship
• Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the district curriculum requirements and show evidence of preparation using the districts automated curriculum.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and differentiation for student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA and district policies.
• Collaborate with staff for planning and instructional goals according to district requirements.
• Design or adapt learning experiences with digital tools to promote student learning and creativity.
• Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Plan and use appropriate strategies and materials reflecting accommodations for individual needs.
• Work with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Monitor student achievement and use results to adapt instruction.
• Sponsor outside activities with campus principal approval.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Manage student behavior per policies and IEPs.
• Protect students and property through safe practices.
