Job summary

University of Maryland Baltimore County is seeking an Assistant Director of Innovation and STEM Ecosystems to lead the Maryland Invention Convention and expand partnerships across Maryland. This grant-funded, staff-full-time role focuses on advancing K-12 STEM and invention education, with emphasis on equitable access and educator support.

The role is based on UMBC Campus and includes developing educator training, managing grants, and serving as a liaison to STEM community partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required.
  • Minimum 2+ years in STEM and/or innovation education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and low-income communities.
  • Budget and/or grant writing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Grow and maintain relationships on behalf of Maryland Invention Convention.
  • Oversee Maryland Invention Convention State Competition.
  • Provide support and professional development for educators.
  • Identify and manage grant and sponsorship opportunities to support the Invention Convention and the STEM Ecosystem.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the STEM Community Partners.
