Job summary

Office of the Secretary, Department of Commerce, is seeking a Contract Specialist (Innovation Coach) to lead acquisition teams and apply innovative contracting approaches. The role emphasizes knowledge of acquisition policy and GAO/COFC decision trends, along with managing multiple procurement projects and upskilling the team.

Qualified candidates will have a relevant bachelor’s degree with 24 semester hours in business-related fields and at least four years of contracting experience, including

Qualifications

• Completion of all mandatory training for progression to GS-13/ZA-4 or higher-level contracting positions, including at least 4 years of contracting experience.
• Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, or related fields.
• Exceptions exist for certain federal positions under the CAPS framework.
• A full year of specialized experience at the ZA-03/GS-12 level is required to qualify at ZA-04/GS-13.

Responsibilities

• Lead acquisition teams applying streamlined and innovative acquisition approaches.
• Demonstrate understanding of acquisition policy and related GAO/COFC bid protest decisions.
• Independently manage multiple procurement projects concurrently and resolve program office challenges.
• Develop training for acquisition workforce on innovative techniques and processes.
