Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in Dayton is seeking a Recreation Therapist to plan, monitor and deliver general recreation and therapeutic activities for inmates. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, assess needs, set goals, document progress, and ensure orderly program operations in a secure environment.

Responsibilities include conducting activities, observing participants, providing instruction, managing supplies, and supporting safety and security procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering therapy or activity-based programs in a corrections setting.
• Ability to assess needs, define goals, and document progress for inmates.
• Strong communication skills with staff and incarcerated individuals.

Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, implements and monitors recreation, personal development, structured therapeutic activities for inmates.
• Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to set goals and track progress.
• Observes participants during activities and provides instructional support.
• Maintains documentation and reports for treatment teams.
• Performs security functions as required and participates in meetings and trainings.
• Manages supplies, setup of activities and related records.
