Job summary

OPSO in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Grievance Clerk Supervisor to oversee the inmate grievance and appeals function, supervise clerks, and ensure timely, accurate processing in line with policies and laws.

You will monitor staff performance, prepare reports, coordinate with internal departments, and maintain confidential records to support fair and efficient grievance handling in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible clerical, administrative, records management, corrections, grievance processing, investigations, or related experience.
• At least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises grievance clerks and related staff.
• Oversees intake, processing, tracking, and resolution of inmate grievances and appeals.
• Ensures grievances are documented, categorized, routed, and processed within timeframes.
• Reviews grievance files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Monitors deadlines and takes corrective action as needed.
• Coordinates with divisions to obtain information for investigations and responses.
• Ensures inmates are notified about status and disposition of grievances and appeals.
• Maintains organized grievance records and retention per agency requirements.
• Develops and maintains tracking systems, logs, databases, and reports.
• Prepares periodic reports and identifies trends and improvement opportunities.
• Provides training, coaching, and performance feedback to staff.
