Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or closely related field.
• One year of experience in criminal justice, corrections, and/or social work.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Knowledge of adult inmate classification and housing principles and systems.

Responsibilities

• Classifies inmates according to applicable rules, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitors custody, housing, and program placements to ensure appropriate classification.
• Coordinates with Security Staff daily to advise on housing and placement issues.
• Receives, researches, and replies to inmate requests and grievances.
• Screens, determines eligibility, and assigns inmates as trustee workers.
• Provides counseling and assistance to inmates for adjusting to jail life.
• Performs administrative support such as data analysis, typing, and reports processing.
• Conducts counseling interviews and addresses inmate interests and concerns.
• Determines program eligibility and coordinates education/work schedules.
• Assists inmates to obtain legal documentation from the research liaison.
