Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections in Columbia seeks a dedicated case manager for inmate labor and pre-release programs. The role demands supervising a caseload, coordinating with employers, offices, and agencies to secure job placements, and preparing progress reports to monitor inmate development.

You will advise on release eligibility, conduct weekly orientation sessions, maintain inmate records, and support classification processes.

Qualifications

A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required related experience.
A bachelor’s degree.
An associate’s degree and any one (1) year combination of administrative and/or correctional experience.
A high school diploma and any (2) year combination of administrative and/or correctional experience.

Responsibilities

Maintains a caseload of inmate in the labor crew/work program and/or pre-release program.
Secures job placement; coordinates with business owners and managers, employment offices, public and governmental agencies in the daily activities relating to inmate job placement.
Prepares case reports and updates reports for periodic review of inmate's progress.
Serves as the central point of contact on classification matters.
Advises inmates on release eligibility dates and sentence information.
Conducts weekly orientation programs to inform inmates of institutional rules and regulations.
Operates the computer to ascertain information and enter applicable changes.
Maintains accurate institutional inmate records and ensures physical classifications committee.
