Job description

What your day looks likeStart your shift reviewing overnight logs and machine status. You’ll walk the floor, verify that injection molding cells are running to standard, and fine-tune controls as needed. When a press hiccups, you’re the one who dives in—diagnosing hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical faults, getting production back online, and documenting what you did so the next occurrence is faster to resolve.Between urgent calls, you advance the preventative maintenance program: schedule PMs, write and update procedures, and capture every task in clear records—from equipment installs and structural fixes to work orders and operating reports. You’ll also keep machine controls calibrated and confirm screws and barrels meet minimum specifications. Some days you’ll draft specs and make purchasing recommendations for auxiliary gear (granulators, dryers, chillers, cooling towers) to improve uptime and throughput. You’ll hop on a forklift, scissor lift, or skid loader when needed, support facility systems (electrical distribution, plumbing, building work), and help keep the grounds safe with 5S standards front and center. Throughout it all, you’ll keep an eye on spend—tracking parts, inventory, and maintenance expenses against budget. When customer delivery is on the line, you are on call 24/7 to tackle maintenance issues that threaten commitments.Core responsibilitiesPartner with the Maintenance Manager to maximize uptime and utilization across production assets.Create, execute, and document preventative maintenance procedures for all capital equipment, including injection molding machines and auxiliaries (granulators, dryers, water tower, chiller, etc.).Troubleshoot and repair facility and production equipment across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical domains.Develop specifications and recommend purchases for auxiliary and related equipment.Operate mobile equipment as needed: skid loaders, scissor lifts, and forklifts.Maintain comprehensive documentation: PM schedules, installations, structural repairs, work orders, and operational reports.Monitor maintenance budget, inventory levels, and expenses.Calibrate injection machine controls; verify screws and barrels meet required minimums.Provide technical guidance on facility systems (electrical, building construction, plumbing).Drive continuous improvement initiatives and sustain clean, orderly, 5S-compliant work areas and grounds.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducationHigh School diploma or GED.Experience7+ years maintaining industrial equipment, including injection molding machines; experience with blow molding or extrusion equipment is acceptable in lieu of injection molding background.Hands-on industrial mechanical repair experience: hydraulics, motors, pumps, and related systems.Solid electrical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and troubleshoot complex wiring and controls.Proven ability to diagnose issues and deliver timely, cost-conscious repairs.Skills and abilitiesPositive, self-driven, can-do approach; strong verbal and written communication.Sound judgment and fact-based decision-making under time pressure.Fluency in interpreting engineering drawings plus electrical and hydraulic schematics.Troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical control and hydraulic systems.Competent with single- and three-phase motor diagnostics.Familiarity with logic control systems is a plus.Ability to work independently, complete projects, and lead improvement efforts. How success is measuredReduction in machine downtime.
