Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Infusion Department for a 37.5-hour work week. The role is full-time, day shift, with Monday through Wednesday and specific weekend hours as listed.

You will execute professional nursing care per physician plans to support patient comfort and outcomes. The ideal candidate will assess needs, plan and implement care, collaborate with the health team, and contribute to new employee orientation.

Qualifications

• Two-year nursing program completed at an accredited school.
• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• BLS certification and de-escalation training.
• ACLS certification (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept).
• TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU).
• For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC within first year.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families; cultural awareness.

Responsibilities

• The registered nurse collects patient health data by involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
• Performs initial assessment based on patient’s presentation.
• Records relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrates awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served as well as those patients with disabilities.
• Ongoing assessments are performed as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient’s response.
• Incorporates discharge planning into the admission process.
• Analyzes the assessment data in determining problem identification; identifies outcomes individualized to the patient.
• Demonstrates the ability to plan for identified patient and family care needs.
