Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for our South Lake Union infusion unit. This 0.5 FTE weekend role (Sat/Sun, 7:45 am–6:15 pm) includes onboarding time and potential training to support oncology patients with chemo/biotherapy and supportive care.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Washington State Registered Nurse license (or MSL) and must upgrade to WA residency within 60 days of hire.
• Oncology experience is preferred but training will be provided.
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card.
• Additional certification may be required depending on department.
• Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to develop clinical judgment and effectively listen and communicate.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs and plan care accordingly.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatment, side effects and symptom management.
• Coordinate with inter-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Refer patients to social work, home health care, nutrition, and other resources as needed.
• Implement and evaluate plans of care; integrate research into practice.
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.
