Job summary

Compass Oncology in Clackamas, OR is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the Infusion Oncology care team at the East Cancer Center. The role is 32 hours per week (.8 FTE) with potential coverage at satellite offices. Oncology experience is a plus; strong patient care and multitasking skills are required.

Salary ranges from $41.17 to $69.36 per hour, with final offers based on experience and internal equity. Compass Oncology is part of The US Oncology Network, offering comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• Dual licensure in Oregon (OR) and Washington (WA) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card, preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists physician with exams and procedures.
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions and initiates appropriate action.
• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, labs, protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose and consulting physician.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
• Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
• Communicates all pertinent information to the physician.
• Assures nursing charges are accurate on patient fee slips.
• Acts as a resource to the medical assistants.
• Triages patient phone calls and documents relevant information.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
• Demonstrates awareness of community resources and assists with referrals.
• Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy line.
• Provides nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
• Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Participates in cross-training programs to develop skills across multiple areas.
