Job summary

Palmetto Infusion in Dothan, AL is hiring a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory infusion centers and home-based services. This role includes clinical tasks like phlebotomy, injections, patient intake, and registration, with Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm and occasional Saturdays.

The position requires a Medical Assistant certification (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA) and a High School diploma, plus BLS. Proficiency with MS Office is beneficial in a team-centered, patient-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification by either AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA.
• BLS or obtained upon hire.
• Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience.
• Proficient at partner programs (MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to cope with ambiguous, changing environment while under pressure in a calm manner.

Responsibilities

• Performs visit intake process, including insurance and other administrative verifications, vital signs, weight, and verifies patient record data.
• Collects patient data, including medical and social history.
• Reviews patient’s current medication list and allergies.
• Assists the provider as directed, during treatments.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers subcutaneous injections under the direction of a provider.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains the clinic.
• Assists with patient registration, check in/check out, appointment scheduling, and collection of co-pays.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
