Job summary

Bodewell Group in San Jose, CA is seeking a full-time Manager to support transportation and infrastructure public outreach and communications projects. This role serves as the primary client contact, oversees day-to-day execution, and mentors junior staff while contributing to business development.

The position requires strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with travel up to 30% and an onsite cadence of roughly four days per week at a client site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in public outreach, public affairs, strategic communications, community engagement, or related field.
• Experience managing client accounts, projects and budgets in a professional services environment.
• Experience supporting public outreach or communications programs for infrastructure or public sector projects.
• Ability to work extended hours or weekends and travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of project communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Coordinate public communications and stakeholder outreach efforts to inform residents, businesses, and community groups during project delivery.
• Assist in construction outreach programs and issue response plans to address community concerns and project objectives.
• Manage community coordination activities, including stakeholder notifications and project updates.
• Plan and execute public meetings, open houses, and other engagement activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, accurate project communications.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and document feedback for follow-up actions.
• Serve as day-to-day point of contact for public agencies and community stakeholders.
• Monitor feedback and escalate issues as needed.
• Draft and distribute public-facing materials and track outreach activities and metrics.
• Support project budgeting, scheduling, invoicing and account management.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and participate in business development.
