Job summary

Conti Civil, a fourth generation civil contractor, seeks a Project Engineer to work with the project team and field management on safe, quality infrastructure projects in New Jersey. You will manage subcontractors, submittals, buyouts, and maintain strong client relations while improving budgets and operating margins.

The role emphasizes coordination with superintendents, project managers, and field staff to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Roadway and/or site work experience required.
• Strong teamwork, communication and people skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, HCSS and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Develops construction means and methods with Superintendent/PM to optimize safety, cost, equipment utilization, schedule efficiency, and client communication.
• Reviews foremen's reports daily to ensure accurate data before cost or inventory entries.
• Monitors material yields and minimizes waste.
• Leads the buyout process; writes requisitions and communicates with the Project Team.
• Assists the preparation of the 12 month cash flow schedule.
• Updates budgets for owner change orders and extra work billing format.
• Oversees subcontractors and coordinates meetings to provide schedule updates.
• Manages project submittals, shop drawings, and material certifications.
• Participates in Four Week Look Ahead schedules with Superintendents.
