Job summary

Parametrix, a 100% employee-owned consulting firm, is seeking a Cost Estimator to join our Advisory Services team in Chicago. You will contribute to multi-discipline engineering and construction estimates for infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, transit, and transportation sectors.

You will conduct quantity takeoffs, build cost bases, perform market research, and collaborate with clients and engineers to deliver defensible, data-driven estimates in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction management and/or engineering with a focus on cost estimating.
• 2+ years of experience preparing cost estimates through planning and design phases.
• Exposure to estimating software such as RS Means Online, Blue Beam, Timberline, HCSS.
• Knowledge of Life Cycle Cost estimates and CSI/ UniFormat classifications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a multi-discipline engineering team as a cost estimator.
• Support the Parametrix team in development of conceptual and detailed engineering and construction estimates.
• Conduct quantity and material takeoffs.
• Build the Basis of Cost Estimate based on feedback from users, owners, and the engineering teams.
• Conduct market research to understand cost drivers for material and labor.
• Establish relationships with clients by participating in workshops and guiding team decisions.
• Collaborate with multiple team members and clients across projects.
