American Leadership Academy- Applied Technologies is seeking an Information Technology Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card and a CTE teaching certificate.

The teacher will deliver high-quality instruction in IT topics such as computer science, programming, networking, cybersecurity, and data management, while developing engaging curricula and assessing student performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
  • AZ Department of Education CTE Teaching Certificate in an approved Career and Technical area (e.g. Information Technology).
  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in IT concepts including programming, networking, cybersecurity, and data management.
  • Develop and implement engaging curricula and assess student performance.
  • Provide guidance on IT careers and further education pathways.
  • Stay current with industry trends and participate in professional development.

Job description

We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

American Leadership Academy- Applied Technologies is currently accepting applications for an Information Technology Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

The Information Technology Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in various areas of information technology, including computer science, programming, networking, cybersecurity, and data management. This role involves developing and implementing engaging curriculum, assessing student performance, and preparing students for careers in the technology field or further education.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential IT concepts, programming languages, software applications, and networking principles.
  • Deliver engaging lessons using a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on activities, group projects, and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and practical projects, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment conducive to learning, fostering respect and collaboration among students.
  • Provide guidance and support to students regarding course material, career opportunities in IT, and pathways for further education.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT education, participating in relevant training and professional development activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty members and staff to enhance the IT program and participate in departmental meetings and planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages, software applications, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging lessons that cater to various learning styles and promote active participation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear instruction and interaction with students and faculty.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage classroom activities, lesson plans, and student assessments effectively.
  • Proficiency in evaluating student performance through practical assessments, projects, and exams, providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to teach device maintenance topics such as computer assembly/disassembly, hardware diagnostics and repair, mobile device repair (phones, tablets, chrome books), operating system installation and troubleshooting, networking basics and device connectivity, and cybersecurity basics.
  • Skills in maintaining a professional and orderly classroom environment that encourages respect and engagement.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, mobile devices, operating systems, and troubleshooting/repair procedures.
  • Classroom management skills appropriate for a high school CTE environment.
  • Ability to align instruction with AZ CTE standards.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Valid AZ Department of Education CTE Teaching Certificate in an approved Career and Technical area (e.g. Information Technology or related field).
  • Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint card
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in teaching or training information technology or related subjects.
  • Experience working with student organizations such as SkillsUSA
  • Experience managing a classroom lab or repair shop environment
  • Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Microsoft Fundamentals or Associate certifications.
