Job summary

The Audio-Visual Support Specialist will provide on-site audio-visual and desktop support for classes and events at a university supporting both the Law School and School of International Affairs. The role will ensure classrooms, hybrid courses, and events have reliable technology and audio-visual capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience supporting users in a classroom or event environment, and working knowledge of audio-visual systems, Zoom, desktop

Qualifications

  • Experience providing audio-visual, desktop, classroom technology, or technical support.
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment and integrated classroom technology.
  • Experience troubleshooting computers, displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and related equipment.
  • Familiarity with Zoom and hybrid/virtual meeting technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a classroom and event environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive when troubleshooting technology issues during live classes or events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person audio-visual and technical support for classes, meetings, and events.
  • Support instructors and staff with desktop and podium computer systems, including basic troubleshooting.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot classroom audio-visual systems and integrated technology.
  • Support hybrid and two-location classes by ensuring reliable Zoom connectivity between locations.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot classroom recordings, including room audio levels and recording functionality.
  • Set up audio-visual equipment and technology for events according to requester requirements.
  • Operate and monitor microphones, cameras, speakers, displays, and other audio-visual equipment during classes and events.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to minimize disruptions to instruction and events.
  • Assist users with technology-related questions and provide basic instruction when needed.
  • Perform pre-event and pre-class checks to ensure equipment and technology are functioning properly.
  • Coordinate with appropriate technical teams when issues require additional support or escalation.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach when working directly with faculty, staff, students, and event participants.
  • Provide support for occasional weekend events and activities outside of normal business hours.

The Audio-Visual Support Specialist will provide on-site audio-visual and desktop support for classes and events at a university supporting both the Law School and School of International Affairs. The role will ensure classrooms, hybrid courses, and events have reliable technology and audio-visual capabilities. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience supporting users in a classroom or event environment, and working knowledge of audio-visual systems, Zoom, desktop computers, cameras, microphones, and related equipment. This is a 6-month contract position with potential for extension based on staffing needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-person audio-visual and technical support for classes, meetings, and events.
