Job summary

Y&L Consulting, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead App Dev projects in a banking environment, directing cross-functional teams and vendor implementations on site in San Antonio, TX.

You will manage scope, planning and scheduling, resources, risks, communications, and project status reporting, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and with expected quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IS or business or equivalent in financial services.
  • PMI-PMP or equivalent certification in project management.
  • Minimum 10 years of project management experience in financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed and mainframe infrastructure and new tech.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

  • Lead app development projects and vendor implementations.
  • Oversee scope, planning, scheduling, resources, risks, and communications.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and task sequences from SMEs.
  • Monitor progress and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with quality.

This Role


  • Must have experience leading App Dev projects in a banking environment.

  • Manages day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of retail banking system development and vendor implementation projects.

  • Assumes full responsibility for the following project management areas: scope management, project planning and scheduling, resource management, risk and issue management, communication management, project monitoring/controlling and project status reporting.

  • Leads cross-functional teams to successfully drive projects to completion. Creates and maintains project task schedules.

  • Captures detailed work breakdown structures from SMEs (subject matter experts), captures work estimates, sequence work items and obtains team member commitments from functional managers in a matrixed environment.

  • Identifies internal and external task dependencies in order to define the project’s critical path.

  • Measures and monitors progress of detailed tasks, milestones and action items to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and at a level of quality consistent with constituent expectations.

  • Identifies and balances scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk constraints.

  • Makes adjustments as necessary ensuring adherence to scope and work item change control procedures.

  • Prepares and delivers communications including status reports, meeting minutes, presentations, stakeholder meetings, and information regarding issues and risks and ensures that communications are delivered to appropriate project stakeholders. Completes any other job related duties.


REQUIRED:


  • Bachelor's degree in IS or Business related field or equivalent education and/or experience preferably in a financial services environment.

  • PMI-PMP (Project Management Professional) or other equivalent project management certification demonstrating knowledge and experience in industry accepted project management best practices

  • Minimum of ten years of project management experience in a financial services software development, technical integration or business operations environment.

  • Strong knowledge of distributed and mainframe infrastructure, technology and concepts with ability to quickly grasp new technologies, applications and concepts and apply them as required to implement solutions

  • Strong writing, listening and communication skills with an ability to foster and cultivate professional relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders and resource managers within a functional matrix organizational structure.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with laser-focused attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Work flexible hours as needed, including possible weekends.
