Job summary

Wawa, Inc. in Media, PA is offering the IT Information Technology Internship Program for Summer 2027. The internship runs May through August 2027 with a full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week, onsite four days a week.

As an IT engineering intern you will work on the application engineering team on build pipelines, tooling, reference apps, and potential product development of digital platforms. You will patch software, update SDLC documentation, and support automation and testing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration or major in Computer Science preferred
• Knowledge of Java or other similar programming languages (Java/Golang Preferred)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms especially Kubernetes/Docker, AWS preferred

Responsibilities

• Enhance application pipelines to improve performance and functionality
• Patch existing software and infrastructure to ensure no security vulnerabilities exist
• Develop and enhance Java, Golang, Kubernetes and Docker components
• Update documentation on SDLC processes and ensure the documentation for how to perform operations withing the Wawa development teams is up to date and accurate
• Work with many tools that could include scripting on Linux in order to achieve and further automation capabilities
• Build performance tests using pre-defined frameworks (K6) for testing existing platforms
• Work with databases including Postgres and MongoDB

Wawa Internship Program Overview

The Wawa Internship Program offers students hands-on experience in a collaborative corporate environment, where they work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful business projects, and build skills that support their academic and professional growth. Throughout the summer, interns participate in professional development and networking opportunities with fellow interns and company leaders. The program culminates in a capstone presentation, where interns showcase key projects, accomplishments, and the impact of their contributions.
