FTB's Data Lake Development Unit is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated Data Engineer (Information Technology Associate) who takes initiative and is interested in contributing to meaningful, high-impact work while developing foundational technical skills.

Our team transforms a wide range of operational, digital submission, financial transaction, and external data sources into detailed, structured data elements by processing and normalizing large volumes of raw, complex datasets into reliable datasets that support FTB's enterprise analytics, business intelligence, predictive modeling, and enterprise applications. This processed data forms the foundation of many of the department's most critical functions, and the work you perform will help ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of data used across the enterprise. By supporting these essential data flows, you will play an important role in advancing FTB's mission to assist taxpayers and fund vital state programs.

As a Data Engineer, you will work alongside experienced team members to assist in the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data parsing and transformation processes that load and structure data within the Enterprise Data Lake. You will gain hands-on experience with data ingestion workflows, basic parsing logic, schema updates, data validation activities, and daily operational monitoring. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team, grow your technical abilities, and develop foundational skills that will serve you throughout your IT career at FTB.

Teamwork is a cornerstone of our success. We value collaboration, shared problem solving, and working together to ensure strong outcomes. We offer opportunities for professional development and growth, and we are committed to helping staff build long-term careers in technology. If you believe you would be a great fit for the Data Lake Development team, we look forward to having the opportunity to meet you!
