Job summary

Christian Heritage Academy is seeking an IT Assistant to support the Director of IT, plan and implement technology strategies, and maintain school-wide hardware, software, and AV systems. You will assist with network infrastructure, digital communications, and live event production across campus.

Ideal candidates have an IT degree, relevant certifications, and hands-on experience with ProPresenter, AV setup, and classroom tech support.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or a related field.
  • Certifications from CompTIA (A+, Network+, etc.) and/or Microsoft administration, Google Workspace administration, Apple administration are preferred.
  • Live Event Production: sound reinforcement, lighting design/operation, video and multimedia production experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective

The primary objectives of the IT Assistant position is to assist the Director of IT in planning the use of technology in the school for the future and support the use of technology in the present. The position will help support and repair technology hardware and software, including audio/visual technology, at the direction of the Director. This position will support the network infrastructure and support users of technology. This position will also help maintain digital communication platforms. This position must agree with and support the Staff Member’s Covenant, Marriage and Sexuality Statement and agree with/help fulfill CHA’s Mission Statement.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities and Tasks)

General
  • Help maintain all client computer systems
  • Help maintain all networking systems
  • Help maintain all datacenter systems
  • Help maintain all digital communication platforms

Specific
  • Serve as the first contact and person responsible for live event production (elementary and secondary chapels, assemblies, programs, parent meetings, etc.) and be proficient in:
    • Sound reinforcement
    • Live audio mixing and input/output routing
    • Wired and wireless microphone systems
    • Musical instrument amplification
    • Multimedia presentation software (content creation, arrangement, import, operation, etc.)
    • Video recording/live streaming
    • DMX lighting control, design, programming, etc.
    • Troubleshooting the above systems
    • Dialoguing with 3rd party AVL contractors
    • Planning performances and events with administration, faculty, staff and students
    • Terminology related to the performance arts
    • Equipment organization, documentation, storage, and maintenance
  • Serve as the first contact and person responsible for sound reinforcement/in-game graphics/live stream at athletic venues
    • Mobile and stationary AV rack management and operation
    • Wired and wireless microphone setup and operation
    • Approved ambient music through GameTime media player
    • Content creation for LED score table
    • Technical setup for broadcasting live play-by-play
  • Help maintain signage and wayfinding on campus
    • Proficiency in Adobe CC and/or Canva
  • Level 1 helpdesk support for administration, faculty, staff and students in a classroom or office environment.
Qualifications
Desired Education and Background
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or a related field

  • Live Event Production: Sound reinforcement and mixing, lighting design and operation, video and multimedia production experience (i.e. house of worship, theater, etc.).
Technical Skills Desired

Hardware and Software Knowledge: Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware (computers, printers, peripherals) and software (operating systems, common applications).

  • Operating Systems: Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS.
  • Network Basics: Understanding of basic networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), and experience with setting up and troubleshooting local area networks (LANs) and Wi‑Fi.
  • Security Fundamentals: Basic understanding of cybersecurity best practices, like setting up firewalls, recognizing phishing attempts, and implementing basic security measures.
  • ProPresenter Presentation Software: Above average understanding/experience with using ProPresenter to effectively support live presentations for a variety of situations.
Soft Skills Desired
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Clear patient communication is essential for explaining technical issues to non‑technical users. Ability to learn how to communicate as the “voice” of the organization.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Essential for spotting small issues that could lead to bigger problem.
Other Desirable Qualifications
  • Basic KnowledgeofITInfrastructureFamiliaritywithcloudplatforms(e.g.,GoogleWorkspace,Microsoft365).
  • Project Participation: Experience assisting in IT projects, like software rollouts, construction projects, or network upgrades.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques used in the physical installation of technology assets: Ability to climb ladders, lift typically fragile objects, use hand tools or power tools, run cable, test cable, etc.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, 12-month position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule. This position is hourly with no overtime.

Performance Standards

Completing tasks well and in a timely manner (before or at due date), while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying to Christ.

Travel

Some local travel required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school.

Speaking - must be able to express ideas and speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees.

Hearing – ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication.

Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading.

Standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time, moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building.

Regularly sitting at the computer requiring dexterity of hands and fingers. Occasional lifting of at least 25 pounds. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Environment is primarily indoors in a classroom environment.
