Information Systems Security Officer- ISSO

The Opportunity:

As an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), you will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate operational security postures and active security authorizations for all projects/security plans (SPIDs) are maintained for information processing systems. ISSOs create and maintain security artifacts such as Plans of Actions and Milestones (POAMs), ensuring control implementations and test plans meet all Assessment and Authorization (A&A) milestones as per customer requirements and practices. You will conduct vulnerability assessments, assist in POA&M resolution, and consult with program teams on ICD 503 and RMF standards throughout the IT Systems lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct in-depth security reviews of program systems, applications, and services.
2. Participate in security assessments and develop transition plans for remediation to align with baseline standards.
3. Maintain appropriate operational security posture in collaboration with the Information System Owner (ISO).
4. Research, develop, implement, test, and review applications' information security in accordance with DoD/NIST RMF requirements.
5. Guide contracting teams on security measures, explain threats, implement security measures, and monitor applications to meet or exceed DoD/NIST RMF requirements.
6. Support the maintenance of active security authorizations and security artifacts such as POAMs, control implementations, and test plans.
7. Oversee the integration of new or modernized applications with enterprise security services.
8. Implement applicable manual Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), vendor guides, and ensure timely patch installation.
9. Utilize security databases like XACTA 360, Service+, CPT, and SWAP.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• At least five (5) years of ISSO experience, preferably within the IC and NGA, managing multiple SPIDs.
• Experience conducting security scans and applying security patches and fixes.
• CISSP certification or Security+ certification.

The proposed salary range for this position is: $68,400-$143,700.
