The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) shall perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include validating and verifying system security requirements, establishing security designs, and integrating IA and security systems across networking, computing, and enclave environments, including those with multiple enclaves and differing data protection/classification requirements.
The ISSE will build IA into operational systems, assist architects and developers in implementing security functionalities aligned with Agency policies, support security architecture development, and enforce trusted relations among external systems. They will assess and mitigate security threats throughout the program lifecycle, contribute to security planning, risk analysis, certification, and awareness activities, and review certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation for completeness and compliance.
The role requires applying system security engineering expertise across various domains such as system security design, engineering lifecycle, cryptography, risk management, intrusion detection, incident handling, and security testing. The ISSE will support security authorization activities in compliance with NSA/CSS NISCAP, DoD RMF, NIST RMF, and NSA/CSS business processes.
Qualifications include fourteen (14) years of experience as an ISSE on similar programs, a Bachelor's degree in a related field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree), DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IASAE Level 2, and CISSP certification. A TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
