The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) shall perform, or review, technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include validating and verifying system security requirements, designing security systems, and integrating IA components across networking, computing, and enclave environments.
Key duties involve building IA into operational systems, supporting security architecture development, enforcing trusted relations among external systems, and assessing and mitigating security threats throughout the program lifecycle. The ISSE contributes to security planning, risk analysis, certification, and awareness activities, and reviews certification and accreditation documentation for completeness and compliance.
The role requires applying security engineering expertise across various domains such as system security design, risk management, cryptography, intrusion detection, and security testing, supporting compliance with NSA/CSS and DoD frameworks.
