United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) is seeking an Information Systems Officer in New York to lead design, development, integration, and support of enterprise applications and cloud-based systems within the IMSS, EAS.

The role focuses on managing system projects, developing integrations, and supporting multi-SaaS environments to modernize applications and enable global pension administration across staff and beneficiaries.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in integrations/cloud application administration or related area.
  • Experience with REST, XML, FTP, WSDL, JSON and SOAP Web Services; Java programming.
  • Experience with multi-SaaS environments and enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements, translate to new applications and ensure secure data handling.

Job Summary

Join the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund – Pension Administration (UNJSPF-PA) as an Information Systems Officer and contribute to the technology systems supporting pension services for more than 130,000 participants and over 90,000 beneficiaries residing in more than 190 countries. UNJSPF operates across New York, Geneva, Bangkok, and Nairobi, with a diverse, multicultural workforce supporting the delivery of pension benefits to staff of the United Nations and other member organizations.

This position is located in the Information Management Systems Service, Enterprise Applications Section (IMSS, EAS) of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund-Pension Administration (UNJSPF-PA). The Information Systems Officer reports to the Team Lead in UNJSPF-PA/IMSS/EAS and plays a key role in the design, development, integration, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise applications and cloud-based systems.

The incumbent is responsible for managing systems projects, developing and maintaining integrations, supporting multi-SaaS environments, analyzing user requirements, and enhancing enterprise applications. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to application modernization, systems integration, cloud technologies, and technology solutions that support the Fund’s global pension administration operations.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage projects involving feasibility studies, systems analysis, design, development, and implementation of new systems, and participate in development teams responsible for major components of more complex systems.
  • Develop detailed system and functional specifications and user documentation for major systems.
  • Provide specialized advice to users, analyze user requirements, translate requirements into new applications, and determine application systems integration and linkage issues.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and enhance existing user systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide continuing user support.
  • Develop and maintain computer programs requiring the integration of multiple interrelated systems and program elements, ensuring appropriate data security and access controls.
  • Organize and perform unit and integrated testing, develop test scenarios and test bases, and assist users with acceptance testing.
  • Develop training materials, operating procedures, and user manuals and provide training to staff on assigned systems.
  • Develop disaster recovery plans and support appropriate planning, readiness, and training.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for their deployment.
  • Prepare reports, papers, and other documentation on systems-related topics, system requirements, and information strategy.
  • Facilitate communications between UNJSPF and its clients to support effective client relationships and coordinate the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for IT services and technology support.
  • Support contract administration, including the establishment of service level agreements with vendors and chargeback policies for users.
  • Provide guidance to, and where required supervise, new/junior staff, consultants, and other team members.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, configuration, implementation and maintenance of integrations/cloud application administration or related area is required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in any of the following architectures and protocols: REST, XML, FTP, WSDL, JSON and SOAP Web Services Programming in Java is required.
  • At least five (5) years experience as a technical engineer supporting a multi-SAAS (Software as a Service) environment is desirable.
  • At least five (5) years of significant work experience with Vitech V3/Velocity, Oracle Fusion Financials, Tungsten Total Agility and/or Service Now is desirable.
  • At least five (5) years experience designing and developing scalable and robust integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform/AWS integration services such as AWS API Gateway, AppFlow, Step Functions and/or Oracle Integration Cloud is desirable.
