South Dakota State University (SDState) is currently seeking an Information Specialist to join our Animal Science department. This position will play a critical role in the department’s three primary missions which are learning, discovery, and engagement. If you have a strong attention to detail and excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills then this position may be for you!

SDState is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million annual research expenditures, more than 200 academic programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The university is part of a dynamic community for families, students, young professionals, and retirees, which offers an abundance of attractions and activities. Tomorrow's animal and natural resources industry leaders gain the educational foundation they need in the Department of Animal Science. With our multidisciplinary approaches toward production efficiency, product enhancement and natural resources management, both our undergraduate and our graduate students gain strong skill sets.

This position is located in Brookings.

Job Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for preparing, coordinating, and developing Animal Science Department informational communications following university and department guidelines, meeting required deadlines as well as providing vital administrative services for faculty, staff, and students.

Knowledge of:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint
  • Computer processes related to website content and social media presence.

  • Grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Skill & Ability to:
  • Write, proofread, and edit written materials.
  • Manage time and meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects at once.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience developing newsletters or managing company social media
