Job summary

Community Academies of New Orleans is seeking a Special Education Self-Contained Teacher to collaborate with the Academic Team and families to deliver personalized instruction. You will develop IEP goals with the SpEd Coordinator and Principal and receive weekly coaching to ensure progress toward professional goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Two years of special education teaching experience.
• Valid Louisiana state special education certificate.
• Ability to create IEPs.
• Ability to maintain compliance with all SPED documents and records.
• Fully participate in ongoing professional development.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn through coaching and feedback.
• Patient, resourceful and resilient personality.
• Commitment to equity in education.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Academic Team to improve lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Deliver grade-level curriculum with fidelity and consult on strengths and challenges of the curriculum.
• Assist in development and implementation of IEP goals and interventions with classroom teachers.
• Monitor students’ behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions.
• Utilize supplemental resources and identify additional resources as needed.
• Conduct assessments focusing on long- and short-term needs of students.
• Collaborate with parents and staff to track student progress.
• Manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts.

Education
