Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center provides direct patient care under supervision, documenting findings in the electronic medical record and teaching patients and families.

Under the direction of a registered nurse or provider, the LPN coordinates care with the healthcare team to support a wide range of patients, while adhering to the facility’s standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed to practice as an LPN in the state of employment or holds a multistate LPN license.
• BLS certification required prior to orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider.
• Observe, report and record medical information and nursing care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Instruct patients and families according to the teaching plans.
• Communicate with the healthcare team to facilitate coordination of patient care.
