Job summary

Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network is hiring an experienced laboratory supervisor to lead high‑complexity testing and ensure accuracy, safety and regulatory compliance across the section.

You will perform molecular HLA typing, flow cytometry, genetic analysis, ABO typing and infectious disease testing, oversee staff training, and coordinate process improvements and audits to support donor testing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-complexity laboratory testing and quality control; lead section and guide process improvements.
• Perform high-complexity testing: HLA typing, flow cytometry, genetic analysis, ABO typing, and infectious disease assays.
• Act as section lead, overseeing designated lab areas.
• Serve as final reviewer to sign off clinical cases.
• Document results; interpret complex patterns and troubleshoot irregular results.
• Compile and prepare QA reports for the section.
• Lead process-improvement initiatives.
• Assist staff with procedures, controls and SOPs.
• Train new employees on procedures and SOPs.
• Conduct competency assessments of staff.
• Provide staff support and management as requested.
• Assist with personnel management, coaching, and performance reviews.
• Assist development and validation of new procedures.
• Preserve donor cells and serum for potential testing.
• Process blood samples from transplant patients.
• Prepare reagents and ensure supply readiness.
• Set up and monitor testing equipment.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
• Perform minor equipment repairs and calibration.
• Maintain QC records and data logs.
• Monitor supply levels.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe work area.
• Provide after-hours technical consulting.
• Contribute to QA and performance improvement programs.
• Identify non-conformances and manage corrective actions.
• Promote QA culture across the lab.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (CMS/CLIA, FDA, UNOS, ASHI, CAP).
• Track and report quality metrics like TAT, error rates, satisfaction.
• Assist audits and follow-ups with leadership.
