Responsibilities:

The Infection Preventionist is a licensed nurse responsible for implementing and overseeing the infection prevention and control program in a long-term care setting. This role includes monitoring healthcare-associated infections, antibiotic use, immunizations, and occupational health.

• Participate as a member of the nurse management team, influencing resident care and staff management decisions.
• Contribute to antibiotic stewardship and quality assurance committees.
• Manage the immunization program by monitoring, tracking, and reporting infection and antibiotic use.
• Lead educational programs based on facility needs using critical thinking skills.
• Conduct infection control surveillance activities and audits to recommend practices.

Requirements:

• Active RN license or LPN with management experience.
• Completion of CDC's Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training (training can be provided upon hire) or advanced infection prevention certification.
• Current BLS certification.
