Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an Infection Prevention Technician to join our statewide team in a hybrid, day-shift role supporting physician offices and outpatient clinics across Indiana. You will implement and monitor infection control policies, provide staff training on PPE and safe practices, and perform environmental rounds to ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and supply readiness.

Travel up to 50% is required, with the remainder of work performed from a home office, reflecting

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 0-3 years of relevant infection prevention experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant III, Sterile Processing Technician, or prior Infection Prevention Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Surveillance & Monitoring: identify infection risks, monitor hand hygiene, and track trends.
• Environmental Audits: conduct rounds to ensure cleanliness and disinfection of patient areas and waiting rooms.
• Disinfection and Sterilization: monitor cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of reusable equipment.
• Staff Education: train staff on infection prevention, PPE usage, and environmental cleaning.
• Supply Management: ensure PPE, sanitizers, and cleaning agents are available to staff.
