Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking an Infection Prevention Technician to support physician offices and outpatient clinics. The role is hybrid, with 50% travel to provider offices across the state and the remainder in a home office.

You will implement, monitor, and enforce infection control policies, provide staff training on PPE and safe practices, and perform environmental rounds to ensure proper cleaning and sterilization while complying with OSHA, CDC, and state guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience as Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant III, Sterile Processing Technician, or Infection Prevention Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Surveillance & Monitoring: Identify infection risks, monitor hand hygiene compliance, and track trends in potential infections.
• Environmental Audits: Conduct regular rounds to ensure that patient treatment areas, exam rooms, and waiting areas are properly cleaned and disinfected.
• Disinfection and Sterilization: Monitor processes for the cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of reusable medical equipment.
• Staff Education: Provide training and in-services to staff on infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE usage, safe injection practices, and environmental cleaning.
• Supply Management: Ensure appropriate supplies for infection control (PPE, sanitizer, cleaning agents) are available to staff.
