Indiana University Health is seeking an Infection Prevention Technician to support physician offices and outpatient clinics. The role is hybrid, with 50% travel to provider offices across the state and the remainder in a home office.

An Infection Prevention Technician in a physician office or outpatient clinic is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing infection control policies to prevent the spread of infections among patients, staff, and visitors. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, CDC, and state health department guidelines through education, surveillance, and environmental audits. Travel to physician offices will be required. The position is day shift, Monday-Friday. The key responsibilities and duties include: Surveillance & Monitoring: Identify infection risks, monitor hand hygiene compliance, and track trends in potential infections. Environmental Audits: Conduct regular rounds to ensure that patient treatment areas, exam rooms, and waiting areas are properly cleaned and disinfected. Disinfection and Sterilization: Monitor processes for the cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of reuseable medical equipment. Staff Education: Provide training and in-services to staff on infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE usage, safe injection practices, and environmental cleaning. Supply Management: Ensure appropriate supplies for infection control (PPE, sanitizer, cleaning agents) are available to staff.
