Job summary

IU Health Methodist Hospital is seeking an Infection Preventionist to join our Quality and Patient Safety team. Onsite role, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, focused on preventing infections and protecting patients and staff.

The candidate will conduct surveillance, implement prevention strategies, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards across our large health system in Indiana.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or a-IPC within 2 years; CIC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct targeted infection surveillance incl. outbreak investigation and responses.
  • Recommend and teach preventative measures to control infection.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency recommendations.

This role works onsite, Monday- Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience in a Healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Requires Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or Associate-Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) certification within 2 years of hire. CIC is preferred.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease, epidemiology, asepsis and immunology, medical procedures, or medical and environmental microbiology is preferred.
Core Competencies
  • Conducts targeted infection surveillance activities including investigation and responses to outbreaks of infections among patients and/or personnel.
  • Recommends and teaches appropriate preventative measures to control infection.
  • Assures compliance with recommendations from regulatory and accrediting agencies.
