Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks an Infection Control Practitioner to lead nosocomial infection surveillance, analyze data for trends, and participate in outbreak investigations. The role includes educating nursing and medical staff and maintaining infection control policies across hospital units.

The successful candidate will have a nursing or clinical background, Maryland licensure, APIC certification, and experience in infection prevention with strong data and education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Medical Technology or related field required.
• Current Maryland RN license or Medical Technologist license required unless infection prevention certification with equivalent background.
• APIC certification as Infection Control Practitioner required or within 2 years of hire.
• 2.5 years clinical RN or microbiology/MO tech experience required; infection control experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nosocomial infection surveillance and trend analysis.
• Review culture and sensitivity reports to set surveillance priorities.
• Maintain nosocomial infection records and prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• Investigate exposures and participate in outbreak investigations, advising on control measures.
