Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Wilson Medical Center seeks an experienced infection prevention nurse to support patient safety and regulatory compliance. You will lead infection prevention strategies, conduct surveillance, and collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure high standards of care.

The role emphasizes education, employee health initiatives, and program evaluations within an in-person hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (degree in progress considered).
• Four years of acute care hospital experience or equivalent required.
• Previous infection prevention experience preferred.
• Current RN license to practice in North Carolina.
• Professional Infection Control Certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and evaluates the hospital's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and programs.
• Conducts surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of healthcare‑associated infection data.
• Oversees cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and aseptic technique practices across the facility.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
• Performs new‑hire health screenings and manages employee exposure follow‑up.
• Provides education and serves as a resource to staff, leadership, and medical providers.
• Supports development of employee health and infection prevention initiatives and annual program evaluations.
