Job summary

Wilson Medical Center is seeking an RN to lead infection prevention and employee health efforts within our hospital. The role focuses on coordinating prevention strategies, surveillance, and compliance across departments to uphold patient safety and care quality.

You will report to the Director of Quality and collaborate with nursing, environmental services, lab, and hospital administration to drive data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (degree in progress considered).
• Four years of acute care hospital experience or equivalent required.
• Current RN license to practice in North Carolina.
• Professional Infection Control Certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and evaluates the hospital's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and programs.
• Conducts surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infection data.
• Oversees cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and aseptic technique practices across the facility.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
• Performs new-hire health screenings and manages employee exposure follow-up.
• Provides education and serves as a resource to staff, leadership, and medical providers.
• Supports development of employee health and infection prevention initiatives and annual program evaluations.
