Job summary

MediLodge of Mt. Pleasant is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator with an RN background to lead the facility's infection program and guide clinical staff.

You will collect data, implement CDC-aligned practices, educate staff, and monitor surveillance to prevent outbreaks, while collaborating with nursing leadership in Mount Pleasant, MI. This role requires strong leadership, CPR certification, and a state RN license, with two years of infection control experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited School of Nursing.
• Valid RN license in the state employed.
• Two years of nursing experience preferred with training in Infection Control.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, analyzing, and providing infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners.
• Consulting on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Providing education and training; and implementing evidence-based infection control practices, including those mandated by regulatory and licensing agencies, and guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
• Oversees essential elements of a surveillance system including definitions, surveillance tools, rounds, at-risk populations, and statistical analysis to identify outbreaks.
• Ensures infection control reports describe infections and identify trends.
• Provides summaries of observations, investigations, and underlying causes of infection trends.
• Defines how often and by what means surveillance data is collected.
• Monitors practices to ensure adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
• Shares surveillance reports with nursing leadership and medical director.
• Reviews antibiotic use.
• Monitors implementation of standard precautions to prevent transmission.
• Implements transmission-based precautions for infected or colonized residents.
• Plans containment of outbreaks considering residents and staff needs.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
