Job summary

Elm Management is seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist in Waterville, ME, to develop, implement, and oversee the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program in compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA standards, and state regulations. This full-time role involves daily rounds, surveillance, and leading infection reduction efforts.

The ideal candidate holds an active RN license with 2–3 years of long-term care experience, and possesses knowledge of CDC guidelines and CMS regulations.

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Minimum 2–3 years long-term care experience preferred.
• Infection Preventionist training preferred.
• Knowledge of CDC guidelines and CMS regulations.
• Strong leadership and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and update the Infection Prevention and Control Plan annually.
• Conduct ongoing surveillance of infections (UTIs, pneumonia, wounds, GI illness, respiratory outbreaks, MDROs).
• Track and trend infection data monthly and report to QAPI committee.
• Maintain NHSN reporting as applicable.
• Monitor antibiotic stewardship program.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds to identify signs of infection.
• Ensure isolation precautions (standard, contact, droplet).
• Audit hand hygiene, PPE use, cleaning and disinfection practices, logs.
• Conduct routine environmental rounds with EVS.
