Job summary

Majestic Care of Southport is seeking an Infection Prevention Staff Development/Assistant Director of Nursing Services (RN) to lead infection control and staff education across the facility. The role blends clinical oversight with mentoring of care teams to ensure regulatory compliance and exceptional resident care.

This hands-on leadership position involves developing training, conducting orientation, auditing chart documentation, and analyzing infection trends with the DNS.

Qualifications

• Current RN license by State Board of Nursing, active and in good standing.
• Valid CPR teaching certificate.
• Must be able to push, pull and lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Experience in the long-term care or geriatric population preferred.
• Must have at least two years nursing experience with training in Infection Control preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care team members receive compliance training and education.
• Ensure training documentation complies with state, federal, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor care team performance and address compliance issues.
• Develop and conduct clinical orientation with HR Manager for new staff.
• Provide hands-on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Coordinate new staff training and CPR training.
• Assess resident needs and design training programs accordingly.
• Collaborate with DNS to ensure clinical competency and conduct annual competency assessments.
• Support nursing staff on the floor during critical staffing levels.
• Collect and analyze infection data and trends for staff and practitioners.
• Consult on infection risk assessment and control strategies.
• Describe infection control reports and identify trends.
• Assist in department budget preparation and keep expenditures in check.
• Coordinate OSHA/Risk Management program documentation with HR Manager.
• Plan and conduct state and federal in-service programs.
• Coordinate Relias utilization for onboarding and offboarding.
• Collaborates with HR Manager and Maintenance Director on annual OSHA trainings.
• Assess PPE availability and ensure adequate supply.
• Assist in interviewing applicants and scheduling.
• Participate in orientation and in-service education training.
• Participate in performance reviews and personnel files and enforce policies.
• Assist DNS in ensuring regulatory compliance for physician and nursing documentation.
• Assist with care planning process.
• Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and corrective actions.
• Follow up daily on units to ensure status changes are reported.
• Under DNS direction, complete chart audits and report results for improvement.
• Ensure proper infection control techniques are used.
• Maintain communication with families, residents and staff.
