Fir Lane Care in Shelton, WA is seeking an Infection Prevention Nurse / Unit Manager responsible for supervising unit staff and overseeing clinical care and infection prevention initiatives. The role requires RN or LPN licensure, BLS, and experience in long-term care supervision.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current LPN or RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisor experience in long-term care preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices; familiarity with relevant laws and guidelines.

Responsabilités

• Staff Supervision: schedule, mentor, and evaluate unit nurses and CNAs.
• Clinical Oversight: monitor resident care, care plans, and documentation.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: coordinate with physicians, therapists, dietary, and families.
• Operations & Compliance: ensure safe med administration and compliance with health regs.
• Surveillance & Tracking: collect and trend HAIs and other infections.
• Outbreak Management: lead rapid responses, tracing, isolation, and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Staff Supervision: Manage, schedule, mentor, and evaluate unit nurses (RNs/LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
• Clinical Oversight: Monitor daily resident care, clinical conditions, care plan execution, and accurate medical documentation
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with physicians, therapists, dietary teams, and families to address changing resident needs
• Operations & Compliance: Ensure safe medication administration, maintain adequate unit supply levels, and enforce federal, state, and local health regulations
• Surveillance & Tracking: Collect, analyze, and trend data on healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and community-acquired illnesses across the facility
• Outbreak Management: Lead rapid responses, contact tracing, isolation protocols, and reporting for outbreaks (such as COVID-19, influenza, or gastrointestinal bugs)
• Staff Education & Training: Train and audit staff on hand hygiene, standard/transmission-based precautions, and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use

Requirements:

• Must possess a current LPN or RN license, and in good standing
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a supervisor in a long term care setting preferred
• BLS Certified
• Knowledge of rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
