Job summary

KALESTA HEALTHCARE GROUP in Edmonds, WA is seeking an Infection Preventionist (IP) / Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program while coordinating staff education, orientation, and competency validation.

The role ensures CMS, WA State DOH, OSHA and CDC compliance, leads infection control initiatives, participates in QAPI, and supports nursing staff with education and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Infection prevention certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Knowledge of CMS, CDC, and OSHA state laws.
• Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and computer skills.
• Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care preferred.
• WA state RN license preferred (LPN considered).
• Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
• Conduct daily surveillance for infections and communicable diseases.
• Investigate healthcare-associated infections and identify trends.
• Monitor antibiotic usage and coordinate with Medical Director and Pharmacy Consultant.
• Lead infection control investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in QAPI meetings and present infection control data monthly.
• Coordinate staff education, orientation, competency validation, and development.
