Job summary

Mountain View Post Acute is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility's infection prevention and control program in Washington. You will monitor compliance with CDC, OSHA, and state requirements, and collaborate with leaders on infection trends and corrective actions.

The role requires a WA-licensed nurse with strong teaching and communication skills, CPR, and experience in long-term care. APIC certification is preferred but not required; PCC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current, active, and unencumbered LPN or RN license in Washington State.
• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• 2+ years of nursing experience preferred, preferably in long-term care.
• Knowledge of infection prevention, epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique.
• Current CPR certification.
• Strong communication, organization, teaching, and critical-thinking skills.
• APIC certification in infection control is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge and experience with PCC is preferred.
• Commitment to maintaining required continuing education and good standing with the Washington State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the facility's infection prevention and control program.
• Monitor compliance with CDC, OSHA, state, and facility infection control requirements.
• Conduct rounds and monitor hand hygiene, aseptic technique, standard/universal precautions, and isolation practices.
• Track, investigate, document, and report resident and employee infections and communicable diseases.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and the Infection Control Committee on infection trends, corrective actions, and prevention strategies.
• Support TB management, bloodborne pathogen prevention, employee health, and exposure follow-up.
• Assist departments with infection prevention practices related to cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, laundry, waste disposal, and environmental safety.
• Participate in facility surveys and inspections as needed.
