Job summary

Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific seeks an experienced Infection Preventionist to lead the facility's IPC program across inpatient and ambulatory settings. You will co-chair the IPCC, oversee surveillance, audits, and policy development, and collaborate with CMO and department leaders to ensure compliance.

The role requires CIC (or progression toward CIC), BSN, and 2–3 years in infection prevention with strong data analytics skills and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or must obtain CIC within 24 months.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification before start date.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
• Serve as NHSN Administrator ensuring timely data reporting.
• Investigate and manage suspected outbreaks with CMO and public health agencies.
• Champion antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with staff and pharmacy.
• Perform root cause analyses on infection events and develop mitigation plans.
• Conduct routine infection control rounds across units and clinics.
• Standardize disinfection protocols for multi-patient equipment.
• Co-chair IPCC, drive policy reviews, track actions.
• Analyze and report infection data to IPCC, QRC, and Hospital Board.
• Develop and update infection prevention policies and outbreak protocols.
• Perform annual IPC risk assessments and ICRA for projects.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives to enhance compliance.
• Educate staff on infection control and safety practices.
• Monitor CMS, OSHA, and state standards; update policies accordingly.
• Translate surveillance data into strategic actions across departments.
• Provide temporary coverage during absences of the OEH Coordinator.
