The Infantry in the DC Army National Guard serves as the backbone of ground operations, including taking and holding ground with advanced tactics and weapons. Soldiers train to attack, repel, and capture enemy forces while earning a regular paycheck during drill weekends.

Infantryman training spans Basic and Advanced Individual Training, with benefits including education assistance, healthcare, and a structured retirement plan for part-time service.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must pass a physical exam.
• Must meet citizenship requirements.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconnaissance operations.
• Operate weapon systems under various conditions, including night vision targets.
• Operate and maintain communications equipment.
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and missions.
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents.
• Aid in mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry.
• Use, maintain, and store combat weapons.
